Dear LVSA Members:
You will note that the date of today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot is a palindrome, that is, the numbers read the same frontwards and backwards: 71717 (frontwards), 71717 (backwards). How cool is that?
This morning’s cool temperatures teased us with the prospects of moderate conditions (as forecast), but a serious wind started blowing at 1:00pm and continued to challenge us throughout the afternoon. There was a brief let-up late in the day, but even that was fleeting. The shooters definitely earned their points today.
A number of our regular competitors are off for various summer obligations, and a number were probably deterred by the wind, but still 38 matches were logged, two with iron sights, 36 with scopes.
We welcomed one new shooter, Lynda Baker (Dallas’ daughter), to our ranks. Lynda is an experienced hand gun and Cowboy Action shooter, but is new to scopes and bench rests. Hopefully she will become a regular.
As always, many thanks to all who helped with the match, and of course, to all who took their places on the firing line facing down the wind. You are truly appreciated.
