Dear Fans of Challenging Conditions:
The temperature was in the 60’s, the air was clear, and there were clouds in the skies – but Our Friend the Wind was a challenge varying greatly in intensity and often in direction.
Given the conditions, I was expecting a number of “no-shows” for today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest match but was pleasantly surprised by the turn out. Twenty-nine matches were logged, five with irons and 24 with scopes.
We welcomed one new shooter today, Rick Young. He visited us last week (near perfect conditions) and took his place on the firing line today for his baptism by fire, or more accurately, by wind. Hopefully he (and his wife) will become regulars.
Many thanks as always to all who helped set-up, take down, score, set targets, clean up, etc. Running these matches may look easy, but without the help of the participants, it would be a challenge.
And of course thanks to all the competitors who realized that to become proficient shooters in windy conditions, one must shoot in windy conditions.
Finally, we will be shooting on Labor Day, Monday Sept 3rd. See you there.
