.22LR 50yd BR Results – 05.13.19

Dear LVSA Members and Friends:

Beautiful spring weather greeted the competitors in today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Match, the 5^th of the 25 scheduled for 2019. Sunny skies and moderate temperatures, what more could one ask for in mid-May in Lander? Well, maybe a more consistent wind, but as usual, our friend gave equal time to both the green and orange sides as well as the tails of the flags.

Thanks to Tom Spriggs, a new device was added to help define (and defeat) the wind: a Windometer. How can such a device not but help those of us on the firing line? A plethora of 400’s will probably be in our future.

Thirty-two scores were logged today, only two with irons but 30 with scopes. Scores were good. Every target shot was 192 or higher, and every match X count was in double digits. Nice shooting, team. One interesting thing to note, eleven scores were 398 with X counts varying from 29 to 35. Ties are listed by the shooters’ last names, so unless you come near the front of the alphabet, you better start shooting for X’s.

Thanks as usual to all who helped and to all who competed. A good time was definitely had by all.

Next match: Monday May 20. Plan to be there either as a spectator or as a shooter.
