Dear SB Bench Rest Shooters and Friends:
The 2019 .22LR 50yd Bench Rest season is fast drawing to a close. Only two matches to go before this becomes one for the books.
Given that we all revel in challenges, Our Friend the Wind provided plenty of them today, from dead calm to significant, with changes 180 degrees in direction, mainly south to north (orange flags) or north to south (green flags) but with enough east to west to keep us on our toes. The Velocimeters proved their worth once again. I’m wondering why we waited so long to put them in service.
Thirty-five scores were logged, five with irons and 30 with scopes. This brings the irons total for the year to 100. Every week I am impressed with the scores in this class. Congratulations to those brave enough to test their skills with irons.
It is a great testimony to our participants who hobbled in on bad knees (fresh from surgery), bad backs (recent surgery), and who can hardly see (recent and upcoming surgery). You do yourselves proud and make us proud to call you “shooting buddies.”
And as always, thanks to all the helpers and shooters who braved the forecast 15 – 25 mph winds.
Remember, only two matches to go this year. Mark your calendars for Mon Sept 23 and plan to shoot at 3pm, 4pm, or 5pm. You will not be disappointed. Spectators are always welcome.
