Mid-Range Challenge Results – 08.15.20

Dear Mid-Range Shooters, their Friends, Foes, and Others:

It was 43 degF at 0730 this morning when I arrived at the range to help set up for the final 600yd version of the club’s Mid-Range Challenges. It was 86 degF when I left for home at 1330. I preferred the former.

Twenty-eight scores were logged in two matches. Of note, Greg Anderson scored a 100-9X with his son’s 6BR (tied for the 2nd highest score in the 1,286 logged over the last 10 years in this series); Greg, Tony Cross and Tom Spriggs scored 100-7X (only done 26 times in the last 10 years), and Dennis Prendergast scored a 99-7X (a number of us on the line today can feel your pain).

We welcomed three new shooters today: Suzie Boomer, Brandon Heathcoat, and Richard Bird. Thanks to Daryl Lutz, Dan Thomas, and Tom Spriggs respectively for their recruitment efforts.

As noted, this was the last 600yd match of the season, BUT we will be shooting 1,000yd matches on Sunday Aug 30, and Saturday Sept 12. Mark your calendars (and check your ballistic tables).

Many thanks to the set-up, take-down, and pit crews, and of course all the shooters testing their skills and their equipment at 21,600 inches. You are all truly appreciated.

Charlie Piette, Match Director
