.22LR 50yd BR Results – 08.03.20

Dear .22LR BR Shooters, Friends, and Foes:

Something strange has been going on these past several weeks in our .22LR 50yd Bench Rest matches: the competitors have been arriving up to two hours before the 3:00pm start time. By 2:00pm today, all the benches were full (more participants arrived later) so we set up the targets, flags, and velocimeters and called the first relay of shooters to the line at 2:30pm.

I see several potential causes: 1] we are getting up from our naps earlier, 2] we are trying to escape the heat of the late afternoon, 3] we are hoping to avoid the ever-present 3pm wind, 4] we can hardly wait to enjoy the experience these matches have proved to be, 5] other.

By the end of the day, thirty scores had been logged, three with irons, 22 with scopes (one DNF), and five Green Monsters.

I must admit I should not have shut down things so early this afternoon (well, it was windy). Tom S, Bruce B, Bob T, Kent S, and yours truly (Charlie P), could have should have shot one more relay with two targets each. It was far from dusk, and the wind had quieted down. Next time …

Speaking of wind, you had to be there.
