SB/HP Silhouette Match Report 05.17.15

LANDER VALLEY SPORTSMEN RIFLE SILHOUETTE

The predicted weather must have kept several regular competitors from venturing out.

The match set up temps were in the mid-30, making for cool fingers handling the metal targets. This month’s match had the high power hunting rifle taking the line first. The two AA class riflemen alternated spotting and shooting duties. They were able to complete the 40 shot match without having to re-set. Tony Cross, Lander, shows he is enjoying his new Tikka 6.5×55 and shooting it well. His 15 was match winner. Roger Sebesta posted 13 for the AA win.

The hunting smallbore rifles were next called to the line. The 3 shooters elected to shoot without spotters and all started on pigs. This again allowed a complete 40 shot match without needing to reset. Cross guided his CZ to the win by toppling 20. Anthony Fuller, Wheatland posted 17 to win AA. Sebesta’s 17 was good enough for top master.

After a short break, the standard smallbore rifles took to the line while clouds darkened and squirrely winds lessened. Sebesta was able to get the win with 27 hits. Fuller improved on his hunter rifle score with a 23 for tops in AA. Cross also put a couple more into the dirt and with 22 won the class A money.

The next event will be June 21 and will start with the smallbore guns. All safe shooters are welcome.
