Dear LVSA Members:
It was a dreary and drizzly Monday afternoon for the fourth .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot of the season. Attendance was low, only 21 matches were logged, three with irons and 18 with scopes, but scores were good and the hardy souls who braved the conditions counted this as an afternoon well spent.
The “shoot or cancel” decision was not made until 2:45. A light rain was falling, and the skies to the north looked bad, but your intrepid Match Director knowing that faint of heart never won fair maiden said let’s do it.
The first flight was shot in the rain which picked up through as the flight continued. We delayed setting targets for the second flight until the rain let up (there was a chance we would have called it at that point). But soon the rain stopped and held off until after the eighth flight was completed at 6:10.
Weather wise, it has been a challenging start to this series. But after years of drought conditions the rain is welcome.
My thanks to all who helped with running the match (set up, clean up, targets, etc.), and special thanks to those who showed up to shoot. A good (but cold and wet) time was had by all.
