Dear SB Bench Rest Fans (and Foes):
Skies were sunny, temps were moderate – it almost seemed like an early fall day –
which saw thirty matches logged, three with irons and 27 with scopes, in today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot.
As promised, our friend the wind made herself known throughout the match. The intensity varied (but was always in the 15 – 20mph range), but the direction, especially during the early flights, had a tendency to switch, sometimes 180 degrees. It was a welcomed challenge that was well met by the competitors.
It can be said with little chance of contradiction that a good time was had by all.
Some bad news: Bob Hede, one of our regulars, suffered second and third degree burns on his arms and hands in a black powder incident last Thursday. He is currently at the burn center in Greeley, CO. I know I am speaking for all of us when I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. Bob will definitely be missed on the firing line.
And last but not least, I offer my thanks to all who helped with the match. You make my job easy. And of course my thanks to all who showed up to shoot. You make this whole endeavor worthwhile.
We’ll see what we can do about the wind for next week’s match – but remember, we are living in the shadows of the Wind River Range.
