Dear Fans and Friends of 50yd BR Shooting:
Did our friend the wind cause problems today? Quoting from precision shooter Mike Ratigan’s book Extreme Rifle Accuracy (2007 Indian Creek Publishing), “Don’t be fooled, when the flag tails are hanging, air is inn motion, you just can’t see it.”
And there was wind from the north – usually steady, then switching 180 degrees, then back, then head wind, then calm, etc. All in all, a typical day for wind at the pistol range. At least the wind wasn’t raging. But the temperature was hot 91 at match time).
Today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot saw 33 matches logged, two with irons and 31 with scopes. Given that a number or our regulars are on vacation or otherwise occupied, we were pleased with this number.
