Dear Friends of the Wind:
You know how there are some friends you don’t always like? Well, Our Friend the Wind played such a role in today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot varying frequently both in direction and intensity. While it was not a fun wind to shoot, it was certainly challenging and educational. After all, who wants a life without challenge and we do live in the shadow of the WIND River Range.
Thirty-one scores were logged, four with irons, 27 with scopes. Attendance was down due to the Independence Day celebrations this week, and due to the 15 – 20mph wind (30mph gusts) forecast. It was a brave crew who took their places on the firing line. You are to be congratulated.
Two new shooters joined us today: Middle Schooler McKenzie Smith (daughter of Erik), and David Gray who came all the way from Maine to accept the challenge. David took advantage of his time in Lander to visit his daughter Melissa and son-in-law Tony. Hopefully they will be joining us in the future as schedule permits.
Thanks are offered to all who helped with the many little things that go into making a match run smoothly. And thanks of course who all who challenged the wind from the firing line.
