2014 – 2015 .22LR 100yd BR Winter Fun Shoot (Piette)

Program: .22LR 100yd Bench Rest
Winter Fun Shoots โ€“ 2014/2015 r0

This program is modeled after the popular summertime .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoots with the added challenges of cold weather, winter wind, sun in our eyes, and firing at a 50yd target 100 yards down range.

When: Five Saturday mornings over the winter 10:00 am โ€“ 1:00 pm: Nov 22, 2014, Dec 20, 2014, Jan 24, 2015, Feb 21, 2015, Mar 21, 2015.

Where: The Outdoor Rifle Range. Note: During these matches, the Outdoor Pistol Range will be available for other shooters.

Fees: No charge for those 18 and under. The rest of us pay $3.00. If you choose to shoot two or more rifles, the total cost will be $5.00.

Awards: None. All fees will go to the LVSA to cover the costs of targets, range upkeep, and other expenses. We do this for the challenge, the glory, the love of the sport, and the comradery that these matches provide.

Course of Fire: Two Rounds: 50 yard Smallbore Rifle Target (A-23/5 R) at 100 yards. Each round consists of unlimited sighters at bull S, and five shots for record into each of bulls 1 through 4 (20 shots for record each round times two rounds = 40 shots for record for the match). Shooters may return to the sighter at will. There is no time limit, but each round takes about 20 minutes.

All shooting will be done from the tables with shooter-supplied rests.

Best Edge Scoring will be by experienced scorers selected by the Match Director. The benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter. Questions may be asked, but no challenges are allowed except for mathematical or recording errors.

This program was originally intended for .22 rifles of the type used by our fathers and grandfathers when they taught us the fine art of marksmanship. These were the .22s we used when we passed this tradition on to our sons and daughters. These rifles are off-the-shelf, affordable, sporter, plinker, and small game rifles. Several participants continue to field these rifles.

But this program has evolved to include rifles that may have started out โ€œoff-the-shelf,โ€ but have been built into rifles we are proud to own and to shoot. We enjoy their accuracy, their appearance, their history, etc. In other words, these are rifles we dreamed of owning when we were just starting out. Most of the rifles fielded are of this sort.

Unique, interesting, and accurate rifles are always welcome.
