Dear Warm Weather Shooters:
I awoke today to the sound of thunder
off towards Hudson, I sat and wondered,
would we get the relief that was forecast today?
Funny how your mind works
with the dawn moving in.
Yes, summer paused to take a breath for today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot. A 20 minute rain 30 minutes before match time cooler things down. When the skies were overcast, temps were moderate, when not, it was hotter – but at least 5 degF cooler than the past week.
Our Friend the Wind was up to the usual tricks: switching in both direction and intensity throughout the match, but saving the highest intensity for the end.
Shooters took advantage of these mostly moderate conditions. Thirty-five matches were logged, three with scopes, 32 with irons. Scores were generally good, and a good time was definitely had by all.
As always, be aware that all shooters and helpers are truly appreciated. Your Match Director (yours truly) could not do this without you. It should also be noted that our new storage cabinet makes set-up and take-down much easier. Special thanks to Tom Spriggs for this work.
In other news: I read an article recently that claimed self-driving vehicles will become a reality sooner rather than later. I can see a self-driving Prius, but a pick-up? No way are we going to give up that freedom. But if it does happen, think of the effect on country songs. Not only will some good ol’ boy be crying in his beer because his girl left him, he’ll be crying in his beer because his truck left him too. Can’t be good.
