Dear SB Bench Rest Shooters:
One would not have predicted it by the intensity of the wind during the first half of today’s .22LR 50yd bench Rest Match, but Our Friend the Wind settled down to a point of readability as the afternoon progressed. No, the new velocometers have not yet arrived, but numerous wind flags and the fact that the wind, while varying greatly in intensity, was always from the north helped.
Twenty-nine scores were logged, seven with irons and 22 with scopes. This was the season’s high for iron sight scores logged.
Scores were high as well. A quick analysis will show that if the score for a given round was 197 or above, and the score for the match was 393 or above, at least one bull was a 50. I am happy to say that every scope competitor today scored at least one 50. Also, every shooter scored 20 X’s or more. Nice going.
As always, many thanks to all who helped with set-up, take-down, clean-up, targets, scoring, and of course shooting. I am confident that a good time was had by all.
As we head into August, be aware that there are only nine matches remaining in this series this year. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. You will not be disappointed. Spectators are always welcome.
