Dear LVSA Members:
Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration day, is the day set aside to remember those in the United States military who gave their lives in service to our Country. Please pause again to remember.
The Memorial Day edition of the .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot has historically been one with fewer participants than the non-holiday matches: camping, holiday observances, family gatherings, medical conditions, etc. all take their toll.
Today was no exception. A number of our regulars were otherwise engaged, but we had three new participants, so a surprisingly high thirty-four matches were recorded, seven with irons, 27 with scopes. What a day for a match! the sky was sunny, the temperature was in the high 70’s, and our friend the Wild Wind was off celebrating elsewhere, his milder cousin was present, however, just to keep things interesting.
In last week’s report, I failed to welcome Sammy Crawford back to our ranks. Since we saw her last on the firing line, Sammy has adventured in South America (what was that Nietzsche said about things that make us stronger?), and is preparing for her first year in college this fall in Montana. The three new shooters are Tyler Hede, Bob’s son, Mark Farris, a Wisconsin resident in the process of a long term move to Wyoming, and Lou Roque, a refugee from New York driven west by oppressive gun laws. All are welcome. We hope their schedules will allow them to spend time with us at our Monday matches.
As always, thanks to all who helped with the logistics of this match. And as always, thanks to all who spent part of their Memorial Day weekend with us. A good time was had by all.
