Dear SB Fans Who Are Already Starting to Miss These Reports:
The final match of this season’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoots seemed like an iffy proposition as late as noon today when significant rain started falling in town, but the gods of smallbore shooting smiled, and by 1:00pm the skies were mostly blue, the temperature was 63 degF, and the wind was a mere whisper.
These conditions persisted through the match, with the exception of the wind (who is surprised by our friend?) which was quite calm to start, but blustery and contradictory half way through the match.
Forty-five matches were shot, seven with irons, and 38 with scopes (there was one DNF in the scope class). This is a record for this series. Congratulations, shooters.
We had one new shooter today, Cindy Farris, Mark’s charming bride, who is in town for a short stay from Wisconsin. Hopefully she will be able to arrange her vacations next year to join us more often.
I’ll be writing more about this year’s numbers in the days ahead, but I’d like to note here that in the 24 events in this series held in 2014, we logged 152 matches with iron sights and 667 with scopes, a total of 819. Again, congratulations shooters.
