LVSA Rifle Silhouette Match Report – April 17, 2016
A cool 30 degree morning greeting 3 hardy riflemen. Once the targets were set up the smallbore shooters agreed to do a shoulder to shoulder match without using spotters. Lindle Offenbacker, American Falls, ID was the AA winner @21. Tony Cross, Lander tops in A @ 19. Roger Sebesta toppled 24 for the win.
After a target reset, the SB hunting rifles were taken to the firing line. The breeze from the north kept fingers and noses cold, however the match went on. Roger picked up the win @30. Lindle’s 18 was tops in AAA. Tony put 22 into the dirt for the class AA win.
During the break for lunch, the breeze gained strength and some of the high power targets blew over. However the event went on, with shooters continuing to shoot remaining targets in the left to right order. Lindle’s 788 Remington in 7-08 carbine barked and took down 16 for the match win. Roger got his 7BR out of storage over the past few years and dropped 13 for the AA win. Tony guided a 6.5×55 Tika to the class A win @ 10.
The final 40 shot event was with the HP hunting rifles. Tony doubled his effort and took the match win with 20. Lindle whacked 15 for the class AAA win. Roger switched to a 7-08 but still only took down 13 and the AA win.
LVSA’s next rifle silhouette match will be May 15 with the HP rifles taking to the line 1st and the SB later. All safe shooters are welcome to try this most difficult of the NRA shooting sports.
