Dear LVSA Members:
Blue skies at last – but it seemed like the flooding over the weekend kept some of our regulars busy drying out and cleaning up their houses. Still, twenty-seven matches were logged (three with irons, 24 with scopes) in today’s .22LR 50yd Bench Rest Fun Shoot.
Our friend the wind proved interesting. We had all been anticipating a 12mph wind from the west, but the first couple of flights were contested in rather calm conditions. This was not to last as those of us who shot later soon realized. Both direction and intensity varied from flight to flight, from target to target, from bull to bull, and indeed from shot to shot. Much as to be learned in wind doping today.
Nancy and Jerry York and Ron Valentine joined our ranks for this first time this summer after wintering in Yuma AZ. Joe Bautz also made his first appearance on the firing line this year. I believe Joe wintered in Lander.
My thanks to all who helped with every aspect of the match, especially clean-up. And my thanks to all who took up the challenge to face down the wind. We are all better shooters for this effort (or not).
